The show is currently in its sixth season in Canada where it airs on Slice. At the End of My Leash also airs on Animal Planet in the UK, the Home Channel in South Africa, Norway on FEM, Sweden on SVT2, and Finland on MTV3. It also appears in Italy and Germany and over 50 other countries.

Jon Patch talks to Tammy Gagne, author of the book “The Happy Adopted Dog.” Tammy Gagne, assisted by Consulting Veterinary Editor Wayne Hunthausen, D.V.M., goes through the ins and outs and whys and why-nots of dog adoption in this book meant to be read before heading to the shelter. The first several chapters give the lowdown on how to proceed before the dog even arrives home; like where to adopt, how to adopt, and who to adopt. One of the best points Gagne makes is that even those adopters whose heart may be set on a specific breed or a puppy can find what they're looking for with a little patience and some research into breed specific rescue organizations.

This week Jon Patch talks to Jim Jenner, The Pigeon Guy. Jim Jenner is something like the Ken Burns of pigeon racing. His small, Philipsburg-based production company has released 11 documentaries on the topic. In all of his stories, Jenner always seems to come back to a certain theme: the inextricable connection between a pigeon racer and his flock. To understand this strange sport and its vast history, Jenner says you have to first start with the bond between man and bird.

Robert William "Bob" Barker is an American former television game show host. He is best known for hosting CBS's The Price Is Right from 1972 to 2007, making it the longest-running daytime game show in North American television history, and for hosting Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975. After holding the Price is Right job for 35 years and being in television for 50 years, Barker retired in June 2007. Barker has been a long-time supporter of animal rights, and of animal-rights activism, including groups such as the United Activists for Animal Rights and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Against all odds, Chenery -- with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin -- manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in twenty-five years.

Freedom Service Dogs acquires and trains dogs that have the potential to successfully undergo and complete the rigorous seven to ten month training that allows them to assist people with disabilities, thus increasing their independence and peace of mind.
They focus their efforts on donating these wonderful animals to disabled military veterans to help restore some normalcy to their difficult lives. Virtually all Freedom Service Dogs are rescued themselves from shelters. Those that do not fulfill all the comprehensive training requirements are found adoptive homes.
